Lions News Roundup - May 2010
The May dinner meeting for Winchelsea Lions was held at the Winchelsea Hotel, in their function room - not only a Spouses & Partners evening, but the guest speaker was a young lady who has been instrumental in the support of a Kenyan school which was built to keep the young kids out of the local rubbish tip. It has been a highly successful project.
Other news from the last month;
- Another good payment received for recycled paper - although the likelihood is that the Government's insulation program cancellation is likely to reduce the demand for such paper, and consequently the price paid.
- Sheep manure continues strongly. Winter is likely decrease sales, and in addition the Moriac Scouts have adopted the site for around 6 weeks to raise funds for themselves (they are bagging their own manure).
- Great to hear the success of the Winchelsea Men's Shed in raising the full amount of funds required to set themselves up, including Surf Coast Shire grant and government grant. The Winchelsea Lions Club is providing financial support too. The Men's Shed are running a project to assist the Winchelsea Community Gardens in the installation of a fence, all assistance welcome (weekend of 22/23 May).
