Winchelsea Christmas Lights Competition Winners

The Lions Club of Winchelsea held a small presentation mid-January to congratulate and officially award the winners of the 2008 Christmas Lights Competition. Judges extensively toured Winchelsea to find the top 3 best-decorated houses - biggest, brightest, most eye-catching.

First prize of a $150 voucher went to the Ludmons, second prize of $100 voucher to the Haywards, and third prize to the Larkins, with a $50 voucher. All vouchers were for local Winchelsea businesses. Lions President Murray Leak congratulated the winners for their efforts to brighten the town over Christmas, with garden lights, roof lights, blow-up figures and statues.

Many other residences put on a good show. Previously organised by the Winchelsea Business & Tourism Association, the Lions Club has taken over the project which encourages Christmas spirit and community togetherness. The competition will be run again for Christmas 2009, and competition organiser Lion Neville Densley says residents should plan ahead to be in the running.

The Winchelsea Lions Club is a voluntary organisation working for local, regional and even international community benefit. Find out more about Lions online at winchelsealionsclub.org.au.
